| Shot at glory: A professional sports team is often the crowning indulgence of life-long wealth accumulation. Shnaider started early and has traded often: he purchased a Formula 1 racing team in 2005 but ran it for little more than a year before selling. His attempt to buy the Maple Leafs hockey team never got off the ground, but he successfully acquired a controlling stake in Maccabi Tel Aviv, an Israeli soccer club, in 2007. He sold that to Mitch Goldhar last year. |
